5 Easy Game-Changers for Your Skincare Routine!
“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” – Roald Dahl
Promise Prenatal believes that true beauty comes from within. Outwardly it shows in the twinkle of your eye, in your heartfelt smile, in the blush on your cheeks after a long laugh. Your love for family and friends, your passions and skills, and your thoughts and deeds contribute to the unique loveliness that you bring to the world.
While we know that beauty is more than skin deep, we also know it is vitally important to take care of our skin! It is our largest organ and covers an area of about twenty square feet. This amazing organ bears the brunt of protecting us from the environment all while regulating our body temperature, and allowing for the sensation of touch and temperature. Our skin does so much for us, but with the demands of daily life it can be easy to let our skincare routine slide.
We’ve compiled some top tips to help keep that gorgeous skin of yours healthy:
- Drink up!
Most health authorities recommend drinking eight 8oz glasses of water a day, or 2L. Proper hydration is crucial for your body and brain to function properly. While there are differing opinions about the benefits of drinking water for your skin, some studies show that proper hydration can alter skin density and thickness, and increase blood flow. Having trouble getting the recommended 2L in each day? Try sipping small amounts throughout the day, carry a re-usable water bottle with you, or use different fruits and vegetables to infuse flavor into your H20.
- Get plenty of sleep
We know, we know, much easier said than done! Adults need seven to eight hours of quality sleep every night. Some tips for helping catch those sometimes elusive zzzz’s- turn screens off an hour before bedtime, have a set time for bed that remains consistent, make your bedroom a quiet, peaceful sanctuary, or use a lavender linen spray to help you relax at night.
- Less is more
Too much product can clog pores leading to acne and other skin issues. Make sure to layer any facial products that you use from thinnest to thickest to maximize absorption. Heavier moisturizers and oils will help seal in thinner textured products, and act as a barrier between your skin and the air.
- Don’t forget your neck and décolletage
Start thinking of these areas as an extension of your face- this delicate skin is subjected to the same stressors, and also needs to be protected and moisturized.
- Wash your face!
It can be tempting some days to fall into bed without removing your makeup or washing your face. It’s important to remove the pore-clogging products, debris, and pollution that have built up on your skin during the day. Try washing your face and performing your skincare routine when you get home for the day rather than waiting for bedtime when you are tired and ready to slip under the covers.
Promise Prenatal is proud to say that when it comes to your skin, we’ve got you covered! Our Promise Skincare includes a Hydrating Facial Cleanser and Radiant Glow Face Cream that cleanse and hydrate to keep you looking and feeling radiant.
